• • » PERSONALITY !
GENERAL ,
• » friendly. nate was born into a world where backstabbing, bitching and gossip are all everyday (more like every minute) occurrences, and bearing this in mind you'd expect him to be as judgemental and critical as his peers. however, this is one area he might surprise you. whilst it is true that boys are generally less likely to judge than girls, nate takes this slightly further and opposed to just avoiding people and letting them live their lives as they want to, he will actually be friendly to anyone who is to him. he's a strong believer in treating people as you'd like to be treated - though his actions can sometimes lead you to think otherwise - and he does put it into practise. he doesn't see age, gender or wealth status as reasons to ignore or dislike people and the only real reason most of his friends are rich and elite are because of the school he goes to and the families his own associates with. at least, that's what he'd like to believe, though he might be holding himself in higher esteem then is realistic. still, it is definitely true to say that if you were to approach him and start conversation, he'd respond in a friendly manner. the only factors that would change this are if he's confused (and, if you're someone very out of his social circle, he will be) or in a bad mood for some other reason. even then he'll do his best to be civil, and if he isn't, he'll apologize at the first opportunity that crops up.
• » laid-back. nathaniel is very much a 'go with the flow' kind of guy. whenever there's a conflict of interests between the group he'll always be the person who'll say "I don't care either way" and he actually won't, happy to keep other people happy. even when it comes to things he's actually got a real opinion on, it doesn't take much to get him to give it up with a shrug and a comment of indifference. it helps that he is well known for this attitude, as it is a nice little cover up for the fact that he is actually very indecisive. nate doesn't like the responsibility of making a judgement that will ultimately leave someone disappointed, no matter how small it is (e.g. where they might go on a particular night). if he can't keep people happy himself it's always a priority to keep the blame for their unhappiness off his shoulders, as selfish as that may be. and it is selfish, since he often lands his other friends in shit to keep himself clear of any hassle. he's not being intentionally nasty; he just doesn't like confrontation and will avoid it if he can.
• » naive. clueless is a word you might use with mr archibald here. when it comes to his friends and family, nate can sometimes get himself into situations where he's easily used and taken advantage of, since his good nature leads him to see the good in people and often ignore the bad. his parents know exactly how to get him to do what they want and it usually takes him a long time to realize what they're doing, if he ever does! he's a bit of a puppy, following behind the people who are willing to lead him and almost needing that responsibility taken off him. the ideology is this; if things go wrong, it's not his fault, since he was simply doing what was asked of him. in reality this doesn't work, since nate doesn't fully accept that he's allowing other people to run his life and therefore still feels bad when things go wrong. there is no action too small for him to ask other people's opinions on, and he usually asks chuck bass, trusting everything he says despite the fact many wouldn't view this as a good idea. that's just how nate is; trusting, often to an extent that could be said to be unwise.
• » careless. whilst nate is certainly, in many senses of the word, a nice boy, he has his moments. don't we all? though he's usually the type to do whatever other people want him to, there are those rare times when he does something on impulse without thinking about it or seeking out second opinions. if you experienced these times in the ways he has, you'd understand why he tries to keep them few and far between. these are usually the times where he gets himself into trouble and makes life difficult for himself, simply because he didn't think before he acted. the most obvious example of this would be in sleeping with his girlfriend's best friend, an idea he would have immediately recognized as stupid had he been thinking straight. but he didn't and now he's stuck with a whole spectrum of clashing emotions fighting for his attention; love for both girls, even more lust for both and intense guilt for letting blair down so badly. but I won't go too into that, the main point is that sometimes nate makes his mind up to break out and do something he wouldn't usually, and it's notable that these are usually the things he comes to regret later on.
• » weak. as you might have picked up from previous paragraphs, nate is not the strongest of all men. this would be in terms of personality, of course! he rests on his laid back image a lot and puts down his acts of weakness as part of this package, though deep down he knows that isn't the case. there are times when nate knows he's being manipulated or used by people and even though it can piss him off or upset him, he doesn't say anything about it and just lets it happen. this does actually tie in with the fact that he's laid back, but it's more to do with how reluctant he is to get into arguments. the only times he ever goes this far is when he stumbles into them without seeing the warning signs, or when his temper gets the better of him and he momentarily loses control. however, these two instances are not commonplace and so nate usually goes through life without conflict, though that is not to say he is exactly happy about it, even if it is what he thinks it's what he wants.
• » loyal. perhaps one reason why nathaniel allows himself to be used is for the security it offers him, but another is definitely his loyalty. nate decides quite early on in a relationship whether or not someone is trustworthy, and once he's made up his mind he's loyal to his choice no matter what. this goes for his family, his friends, his acquaintances...if you're in his good books, you're pretty much there in permanent pen and he'll very seldom doubt you. he expects the good in all the people he accepts as good people and can be entirely oblivious to the times when they are out of order, turning a blind eye to things he really shouldn't because he's more dedicated to the person who committed them than the victim. the 'careless' paragraph might lead you to doubt this, but it's worth saying that the times in which he goes against his gut instinct are not nearly as often as they should be. when it comes to these the people he likes, he's really very gullible and trusting, because he doesn't want to think that they'd do him wrong. wishful thinking, nate, wishful thinking.
• » charming. nate is not as stupid as he sometimes seems. he's aware of the privileges he obtains; his looks, his brain, his wealth, and he knows how to use them. he might usually treat his immediate friends and family well, but when it comes to those not in the circle...well, he's not so forgiving. he knows when to flaunt his wealth and use his looks to overcome potentially difficult situations, especially when it'll help things for him and his friends. though he's never intentionally malicious, nate can get almost manipulative as he weighs up a situation and uses his intelligence to figure out the ways in which he could make it better for himself. even though this might cost other people, this isn't the intent, it's just his carelessness once more. he's not a modest boy by any standards, since he knows he must have something to offer to land a girl like blair and serena, and these things don't go unnoticed by himself. it's this knowledge that gives him the confidence to be flirtatious and sometimes daring, making him downright charming when he wants to be. is he conceited? well, yes, a little.
• » intelligent. as mentioned, nate is a bright boy, even though it's not always obvious. academically he achieves good grades and though he works for them, he doesn't have to work particularly hard. but he's clever out of school, in ways that are more valuable to him in everyday life. the most obvious one would undoubtedly be his emotional intelligence. this is a skill that is absent in most males his age, and whilst he's not the best person in the world at it, he definitely knows when something is up. he might not act on these suspicions, but they serve him well. for example, if he gets the feeling blair is annoyed at him for whatever reason, rather than wind her up by asking and landing himself in it even more, he pretends he hasn't noticed and acts like the sweetest boyfriend in the world, so eventually she forgets why she was even mad at him. this applies to a wide range of people with everyone from classmates to teachers, though it doesn't always work.
LIKES , hot girls, drinking, sex, blair waldorf, the UES, lacrosse, running, sports in general, serena van der woodsen, sailing, money or at least what it can do for him, drinking games, good grades, music, his ipod, marijuana, winning, water, mtv shows, blair's perfume, late nights, walks, his family, parties, his friends, people, nights out, flirting and being flirted with, hot food, fast food, cell phones, texting, video games, dogs, hot drinks.
DISLIKES , competition outside of sport, losing, pressure, being denied what he wants, assemblies, pointless subjects, hard drugs, healthy food, sunburn, failing, feeling torn, decisions, love, homework, exams, copious writing, early starts, hangovers, guilt, sluts, anything sickly sweet, bugs, illness, teachers, interviews, lying, cold temperatures, chick flicks, headaches, boredom, predictability, routine, feeling controlled, getting caught, punishment, gossip.

annah scheaffer, also known as caesar's world. well, that's a slight exaggeration, but perhaps slighter than you might think. wallowing in his own self-induced misery had led to caesar examining more than just his relationship with kylah, but his relationship with every single person he knew, from his parents to his acquaintances. one big shock to his system and he was suddenly reconsidering everything, his lifestyle, his friendship circles, his money...everything. all the little things that had bothered him a week or two ago were plunged into insignificance, leaving the bare bones of his life there to be examined and, most of the time, criticized. he'd decided to cut back considerably on casual sex, since it was such that got him into this mess.PASSWORD , AND WHO AM I? THAT'S ONE SECRET I'LL NEVER TELL.
RP EXAMPLE ,friday nights have been lonely,
take it slow but don't warn me.
ironic, then, that he was standing in the lobby of the mondrian hotel, waiting for a girl who definitely wasn't his girlfriend with intentions that certainly weren't innocent. slipping into his old habits before he's even gotten a chance to break them, right? he'd beg to disagree. see, if it was any other girl he wouldn't have bothered, but he actually initiated this meeting with hannah off his own back, having put thought into it. sure, the text sounded casual, though he had lacked his usual subtlety and game plan and had gotten straight to the point. that was the thing with hannah, they had gone beyond that. no, they hadn't slept together so much that it became a chore or even too easy; it wasn't as if every time he got even a little horny he knew he could go and find her and she'd comply. it did look that way, it was true, but then only caesar really knew the whole story.
telling the woman behind the desk to look out for a girl with long, usually curly blonde hair and send her straight up, he decided to ignore the knowing look she gave him as he turned away and headed towards the elevator. his shoes clicked against the polished floor of the impressive lobby, the lavishness of the decor having no effect on a boy whose seen it all before. pushing the elevator button and glancing at the heavy watch that weighed his arm down a little, he realized he was half an hour early and groaned, his impatience getting the better of him. deciding he might as well get a head start on drinking, he scooted back to the receptionist and told her to bring him up a couple bottles of champagne. despite him being underage and her knowing this for fact, she nodded and said a polite, "of course, sir," before picking up the phone with her extensively manicured hand. hesitating to watch this action he smirked a little to himself; her hands were about twelve times more wrinkled than her face, a tell-tale sign that she'd had surgery to look the ten years younger than her birth certificate showed. why bother when there were such obvious indicators? as a receptionist, you'd think she'd have thought it through. well, caesar thought she would have thought it through. quickly losing the smirk and replacing it with a smile, he nodded a thank-you before heading back to the elevator and actually getting in this time.
hot on his heels were a couple perhaps the age of his parents, their hands entwined and their faces closer than really necessary in an elevator in a top class hotel in LA. rolling his eyes and stepping back to let them push a button first, another smirk graced his features as they smugly pushed the button for the king suite, throwing him a patronizing look as they did so. raising his eyebrows and shrugging a little, he gave his response more verbally, "nice choice." pausing for dramatic effect, he soon leaned over and pushed the button for the penthouse apartment, doing his best to maintain a straight face as they exchanged a look, clearly upstaged but refusing to accept so. this was a game caesar was used to by now. having been born into the elite, the competition was commonplace and he'd been born with the need to show off and ostracize just like everybody else. hey, at least he didn't start it. breaking out into a grin as they got off, now acting as if they hadn't seen him at all, he called a cocky goodbye out after them, shaking his head to himself as the doors gracefully slid shut again. within seconds he was faced with the door to the apartment, which opened after a quick swipe of the key-card.
once inside, things were yet more impressive. immediately you found yourself in a miniature lounge, with a sofa and some candles on a low coffee table, the chunkiness and dark color of the wood complete giveaways that they didn't come cheap. chucking his navy colored coat down on the sofa with a slight amount of care to avoid setting it alight, caesar immediately made his way through to the main space, pulling open the balcony doors and breathing in the chilled night air. it was dark already and the lights of the traffic that was speedily streaming by looked like modern day stars, their ancient counterparts littered above them on a dark sheet of sky. the noise that was constantly emitted from the city was reduced to a dull hum from the height, the sound of glasses clinking and people talking and laughing providing the vocals, if you like, to the song that was making up the background noise. feeling better already - even if he couldn't quite ignore that sense of guilt that felt almost programmed into his very organs - he retraced his steps and entered the bathroom, turning a tap and splashing his face with cold water. as soon as this was done he looked at himself in the mirror, drying his face with an overly fluffy white towel and attempting to fix his hair at the same time.
absorbed in this action, it took him a few moments to react when there was a knock at the door but he realized just in time to catch the back of the room service guy. "sorry," he murmured, taking the champagne under one arm and in one hand so that he could tip the guy with whatever note he had in his pocket. catching a glimpse at his watch in the process, he realized how soon hannah would be showing up. cursing under his breath, he just gave the man whatever notes he had pulled out and returned inside, using a foot to shut the door behind him. by the time he'd gotten some glasses out, downed a couple's worth of the alcohol and brushed his teeth it was the time he'd agreed to meet her, even though he felt as if he'd sent that text no longer than five minutes ago. collapsing onto the sofa with a sigh, he tried to think through exactly how he'd explain himself when she did show up. that is, if she showed up. something might have happened since, right? she had that stupid caleb guy now! having forgotten entirely about him, he made a mental note to inquire as to how her homecoming date with him had been and to not act too jealous if she said anything beyond "okay".
